In a joint move by the UK and US governments, new legislation has been put in place to make military aircraft safer and more reliable. The move follows growing concerns from some of the top military and aviation officials that the current safety standards are not up to scratch and personnel are being seriously injured or losing their lives as a result. Both governments have carried out a full review of all the vehicles and have come up with a new set of rules to influence how they are built. Read more »

The tradition of keeping fish and other aquatic creatures in captivity indoors goes back at least as far as the Roman Empire, and the Chinese began moving their gold carps back and forth between ornamental outdoor ponds and small indoor display containers during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The word aquarium is derived from latin and consists of the two words aqua, meaning water, and the Latin suffix -arium, which more or less means “a place for relating to”, aqurium hence mean “a place to relate to water”.
The word has stayed roughly the same in many languages around the world and can be understood in most languages and not just the romance languages that are based on latin such as Spanish and Italian. Read more »

The flower language played an important role during the Victorian Era
The Victorian era was a time of contradictions, as a chiefly rural society changed into a highly urban and industrialized one. During the Victorian era child labour existed side by side with cultivation, dignity and higher morality, it was a time of a lot of different social movements..
Few people have a correct view of the morals of the Victorian viewers and even fewer do as an example know that Queen Victoria collected nude drawings of men while at the same time communication between lovers was so proscrived that courting couples communicated in clandestine ways such as by using the language of flowers. The country of China celebrated their 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in Beijing yesterday. They celebrated with a mixture of red and gold fireworks to thousands of people in Tian’anmen Square and millions other on TV. Earlier in the month the Beijing Daily quoted pyrotechnist Ding Zhenkuan as saying that the display would send nearly 42,000 shells into the sky, doubling the number of the number of fireworks sent into the sky for the opening ceremony last August. America have always been able to boast that their dollar was stronger than their cousins in Canada. Canada has never been able to keep up with the rapid growth of the American economy and whilst they certainly aren’t doing badly, they have always been overshadowed by their next door neighbours. However, as people going on Canada holidays may have noticed recently, with the recession in full flow, Canadian money in closing the gap and their economy looks to be more stable than in the States.
